Training: English for Specific Purposes ESP

On April 7 to 8, 2016, at the Academy of Public Administration was held  an ”English for Specific Purposes” training  under the ”Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through development and library staff reforming libraries [LNSS]”  supported financially by the European Union program ERASMUS + "Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education” (CBHE).

The training program included 5 modules: English for Specific Purposes for Library; Essential management skills for librarians; Information literacy and research skills; Managing electronic library collections: e-books, databases and e-journals; Creating strategies for raising the academic community and library users, strategies and tactics of modern web search.

Opening session of the training was held by Mr. Andrei Groza, first vice-rector of the Academy, associate professor, who noted that the Academy of Public Administration is open for the implementation of EU programs for education, life learning and youth training. We believe that the training supported by international trainers from Limerick Institute of Technology, Republic of Ireland, is a new opportunity that will enhance the knowledge and professional skills of employees of the Public Administration Academy and increase the role of the library in process of training, research and professional development of civil servants ".

Trainers Jerald Cavanagh BSc Econ, MSc, MA, Institute Librarian, Limerick Institute of Technology; Padraig Kirby BA (HonsHdipLIS MSc (LIS), Senior Library Assistant, Limerick Institute of Technology exhibited objectives of the Project on modernization of library services, management of essential and transferable skills for library staff, the importance of information literacy and research skills, services online library characteristic of the XXI century and the opportunities that electronic library offer, open access to information, knowledge of  software for library bibliographic references carrying correctness, correlating citations and avoiding plagiarism, using modules of informational resources for on- line teaching; introduction to literature, strategies using electronic databases, web and internet.
